Uzbekistan’s vocational education and training system faces the challenge of better preparing students and trainees for the demands of the labour market, particularly within its growing hospitality sector. As part of the VET4UZ project led by HELVETAS Uzbekistan and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern is contributing to the adaptation of the Swiss dual education system in Uzbekistan. At the centre of the initiative was a two-day specialist workshop in Tashkent focused on developing structured internship models for the hotel industry. Representatives from educational institutions and the hospitality sector worked together to develop practical implementation concepts. The outcomes are being translated into concrete recommendations for integrating internships into Uzbek vocational education and training programmes.
